'neilo', as I'm known by my cartoon signature, is a Blackpool born cartoonist who first hit the British cartoon scene in November 1989 in an issue of PRIVATE EYE. My cartoons have since been published in PUNCH, The OLDIE, The SPECTATOR, NEW STATESMAN, PROSPECT and The SUN. 'neilo' has also made an appearance in The JOURNAL of SILLY, SQUIB, BEST, The CARTOONIST, ANTIQUE, CARTOON MONTHLY and FORTEAN TIMES.

My only foray into cartoon strips, 'WEEKENDERS', ran for a number of years in the Blackpool EVENING GAZETTE, and along with some choice single gag cartoons made up a one-man 'staircase' exhibition at Blackpool's Grundy Art Gallery.

As Neil Oldham I have added writing to my list of credits - Writing jokes and sketches for BBC Radio 2's 'The NEWS HUDDLINES' ; writing a successful one-act play ('The Day They Sold Doris', Copyright 2000) produced and performed by a local amateur dramatic society; and written and illustrated an article on 'cartooning' for ARTISTS & ILLUSTRATORS. I have also submitted a number of, as yet unsuccessful, TV and radio 'sitcom' scripts over the years. I am currently working on an unsolicited script for a radio comedy.

I am also a member of the CARTOONISTS' CLUB of GREAT BRITAIN and am currently enjoying the position of editor of 'the jESTER' (the club's monthly newsletter).
